Foreign Entrepreneurs and Investors: Establishing in France
Are you planning to start a business, develop an activity, or invest in France? The French legal framework offers several immigration pathways for foreign entrepreneurs and investors. Choosing the appropriate route and preparing a robust application are key to obtaining the residence permit that will allow you to carry out your project.
Choosing the Right Immigration Route for Your Project
- Talent Card — Business creation: for entrepreneurs establishing a business in France with a viable economic project and a minimum personal investment of €30,000
- Talent Card — Innovative economic project: for projects recognised by a public body (French Tech, certified incubators)
- Talent Card — Investor: for significant direct investment in the French economy
- Entrepreneur / self-employed visa: for independent professionals wishing to operate in France
- Freelance / micro-entrepreneur status: advice on the compatibility between your activity and your residence permit
Each pathway is subject to specific requirements. The firm assesses your eligibility at an early stage and guides you toward the most appropriate option.
Preparation and Submission of the Application
- Review of the business plan with a focus on immigration requirements, highlighting key elements such as economic viability, job creation, and contribution to the French economy
- Preparation of supporting documents relating to funding, capital, and investment
- Submission of the application to the French consulate (if abroad) or the prefecture (if already in France)
- Coordination with the Ministry of the Interior where prior approval is required
- Follow-up of the procedure through to the issuance of the residence permit
Change of Status to an Entrepreneur Residence Permit
If you are already in France under a different residence status and wish to transition to an entrepreneur status, a change of status procedure is required. The firm assesses the feasibility of your application, identifies potential risks of refusal, and prepares a file that meets prefectural expectations.
Support with Your Establishment in France
Beyond obtaining your residence permit, the firm assists with your initial steps in France. We work in coordination with your accountant, bank, and relevant administrative bodies. We also monitor your ongoing administrative obligations: renewals, change of address, and transition to multi-year residence permits.
In the Event of a Refusal
A refusal of an entrepreneur visa or a Talent Passport (business creation) is not final. The firm analyses the reasons for refusal and determines the most appropriate strategy: faire un recours ou déposer un nouveau dossier
Strengthening the application and submitting a new request, filing an administrative appeal, or initiating proceedings before the administrative court.
